Orange Park
Fifteen miles south of downtown Jacksonville, the riverside town of Orange Park is known for its scenic waterfront, family-friendly parks and events, water recreation, and rich history.
Once the site of a citrus and cotton plantation, the town is now home to 9,000 residents, an active arts and culture scene, and historic landmarks such as the Clarke House, which visitors can learn about during guided history and cemetery tours. Visitors to Orange Park will find plenty of family-friendly entertainment, from concerts at the 85,000-square-foot Thrasher-Horne Center and shows at Orange Park Community Theatre to community events such as the annual Fall Festival in October and Hometown Holiday in the Park in December.
More entertainment, as well as an array of shopping and dining options, can be found at Orange Park Mall, which also hosts a variety of events and children’s programs. From September through June, the Orange Park Farmers’ Market at Town Hall Park features more than 100 vendors selling homemade goods and local produce.
Outdoor adventures in the area include water activities on the St. Johns River and Doctors Lake, fishing from the 320-foot pier at Doctors Lake Park, which also offers paddleboard rentals, and hiking, biking, camping, and paddling at Jennings State Forest west of Orange Park.
