The Ultimate Summer Beach
The best thing about Panama City Beach shopping is you don't have to step far off the sand. In many cases, you can shop right on the beach.

Happy Campers: Florida Summer Kids' Camps
The kids may learn how to walk a tightrope, swim with dolphins or launch a space mission. But surely after a summer in Florida, they’ll impress their teachers with the fall assignment on “How I Spent My Summer Vacation.”

Northwest Florida Overview
The “Forgotten Florida” is that stretch of the Sunshine State from Pensacola east to almost Tallahassee. In olden days, it was a sparsely populated region of thick pine forests, with the old colonial city of Pensacola acting as its hub.

Nightlife beckons. If it’s blues you want, hit the newly opened Blues Café situated in downtown on South Alcaniz Street. The café gives local blues groups a stage nearly every night.

Northwest Florida Beach Guide
Spend your vacation swimming, trying to spot dolphins in the Gulf, and shelling. Don’t forget to bring your fishing rod – plenty of people cast right from the shore.

Classic Coast with a Twist
As we sipped our drinks, I was reminded that for all its glitz and spring-break glam, Panama City Beach is a sleepy, southern beach town at heart.

Conveniently perched on the Florida-Alabama state line, it hosts the Annual Interstate Mullet Toss, a wacky April tournament where participants heave a dead mullet from Florida into Alabama.

Beach Blanket Bingo
With hula girls, fire-twirling dancers and more tiki faces than you’ll find in Tahiti, this place shimmies with Polynesian surrealism (and the food’s good, too).

Walking the Historic Towns of Northwest Florida
At first DeFuniak Springs was to be a pit stop - a place to fill up on gas and coffee. But an old Victorian house coaxed me to make a detour, and then what I saw made me get out and walk.

Anglers who fish the Suwannee fall in love with its cypress swamps and spring-fed creeks. From its headwaters in "The Swamp" to the wide flood plain near its mouth, the Suwannee's scenery seems to evolve every 30 miles.

Houseboating on Nature's Doorstep
The lower portion of the Suwannee is a nature preserve, so we saw very little development or housing. Just our drifting boat along the winding river, and not a billboard or electrical wire for miles.

Rockin' Around the Clock in Panama City Beach
Water pistol fights, an underwater treasure hunt, tugs of war, steering the pirate ship, and going below deck for pirate tattoos keep kids active and entertained for the two-hour sail.

St. Andrews State Park was voted the best U.S. beach in 1995 and today it still lives up to the honor with more than 1,260 acres, two fishing piers, jetties and two and a half miles of pristine shoreline.

Located at the Florida-Alabama border, the Flora-Bama Lounge, Package, Oyster Bar & Grill is well-known for its Interstate Mullet Toss and beach party, where participants toss mullets, a fish indigenous to the area, from Alabama across the state line into Florida. The fish-throwing is done in late April on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico.
