It's a Wild, Wild Life in Naples
There's a good reason it's called the Paradise Coast. More than 80 percent of Collier County in southwest Florida, which encompasses Naples, Marco Island and the western side of the Everglades, is designated as parkland and nature preserves.

Need More Beach
It really struck home a few weeks ago that I need more beach in my life (really everybody does). And one of my favorite places to 'get more beach' is Southwest Florida's Paradise Coast – Naples, Marco Island and the Everglades, where the beach is always close by.

In Search of the Key Marco Cat
While I haven’t seen a wooden cat in the cases, I can now get a drink under the chickee bar at Snook Inn, a classic with a view of dolphins and manatees.

There’s a reason it’s called the Paradise Coast, and the setting is perfect for love – think sunset champagne toasts, a massage for two and secluded island beaches.

Southwest Florida Overview
Cow towns and cultural meccas . . . captains at sea and captains of industry . . . free-spirited artists and famous inventors . . . what do they all have in common? Southwest Florida. The region is a comfortable mix of classic and cosmopolitan, laid back and fast paced.

Finding Italy in Florida
The water beckons, and to reach the beach, we have to resist the urge to plunk ourselves down in a lounge chair by the pool or retire to a cabana, where our every need will be catered to.

Florida Beach Survey
A painfully obvious but nevertheless satisfying thought crossed my mind the last time I was there; the refreshing sea breeze you feel has crossed the entire Atlantic before making landfall, making it some of the cleanest, freshest air on earth.

Walk on the Wild Side
The grand sight of a whale splashing in the water is not usually associated with Florida. But northern right whales choose our northeastern coastal waters, almost exclusively, to give birth in winter months. They are among the most endangered species of large mammals in the world.

The local wildlife habitat is lush with sea oats, sea grapes and cabbage palms, and when you have had enough of the beach, you can take a hike around the nature trail and stop at the observation tower to take in the scenery.

Surfing for Fish
To determine if crabs, shrimp and the like are around, look for the food chain a step higher: wading birds, pelicans, cormorants, stingrays and small sharks.
