The Perfect Florida Sandal
July 23, 2008
During my vacation on Amelia Island in Northeast Florida, my sister, Adri, introduced me to the most comfortable flip flops I have ever walked on. Not only did you feel like you were walking on top of clouds, but they array of colors and patterns have to make them one of the most fashionable trends of our times.

Havaianas are the essence of summer. They have over 250 choices available, which makes them wearable at all times – day or evening!  They are the perfect Florida sandal.

Havaianas (pronounced ah-vai-YAH-nas) were created in 1962 and inspired by a Japanese sandal named the Zori. I bought my first pair on vacation.  Now, I own six of them. Men, women and children are obsessed with these sandals. It is said it's “largely due to a 42-year old secret rubber formula, which makes them butter-soft, bouncy, flexible and durable.”

This year alone, over 60 fashion magazines have named them the "it" sandal for the summer, among them: InStyle, People, Us, Elle, Lucky, Glamour, Travel & Leisure, Maxim, Cosmo Girl, Oprah Magazine, Redbook and Teen Vogue. Havaianas have also been seen strutting down the runways at New York Fashion Week and featured at red carpet events.

Thankfully, Havaianas are available throughout the entire Sunshise State at the most chic boutiques, surf shops and department stores. From Altamonte Springs to Clearwater Beach, Bradenton to Daytona Beach, Gainesville to Tallahassee, you'll find a store selling Havaianas near you!
