Look at that glorious, dune-fringed, wide Florida beach! For two years, after I graduated from the University of Florida (Go Gators!), I had the pleasure of being a beach girl in the fabulous seaside burg of Atlantic Beach. I snapped this shot on a return visit last year, when I was lucky enough to stay at the classy One Ocean Resort, which recently opened on the site of the former Sea Turtle Hotel.
If you've never visited Atlantic Beach or the other Jacksonville Beaches, you've got to see this part of the state. What I love most about Atlantic Beach is the local vibe (it's a real surf town, with a heavy artistic dose, too). Valet your car at the hotel and forget about it for the weekend. You can walk everywhere from the One Ocean Resort, located right on the beach. Cute shops and restaurants are literally a two-minute stroll out the door! And the hotel has a beautiful oceanfront spa where you can indulge in a beachy version of hot stone massage that employs hot seashells (and a very intuitive therapist) to work our your body's kinks. Divine!
