| During my recent trip to the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, I had the pleasure of staying at the wonderful Renaissance Resort. Since my visit, they have spent $10 million renovating the rooms, lobby and atrium, restaurant and bar, billiard room, meeting rooms and business center. Renovations are scheduled for completion in early May 2008. The place was already impressive so I am anxious to see all the new improvements.
This great resort has tremendous views of the World Golf Hall of Fame and golf holes all around the hotel, as well as the World Golf Village restaurants and shopping, which are an easy walk out the front door.
Starting in mid-May, they will be offering a special “Florida Champions Golf Package” that includes such things as two nights accommodations in the newly remodeled rooms, golf for two at the superb King & Bear course (the only course ever designed jointly by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus), golf for two at the Slammer & Squire course (designed with the input of Hall of Famers Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen), and two tickets to the World Golf Hall of Fame. It is definitely worth the time to see this wonderful museum of golfing history and artifacts from your favorite golfers - don’t forget to see the IMAX Theater there, too.
At the Renaissance Resort they even have an indoor professional Full Swing golf simulator that allows you to take on top golf layouts. Guests also have privileges at the nearby PGA TOUR Golf Academy and the private Serenata Beach Club that provides access to miles of beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. The prices vary depending on the time of year so give them a call at 1-888-740-7020 or (904) 940-8000 or check their web site: www.WorldGolfRenaissance.com .
While in St Augustine – America’s oldest city founded in 1565 – you should tour the beautiful Spanish streets and architecture. Take some time to see the Castillo de San Marcos fort and be sure to visit The Fountain of Youth to add a few more years to your life so that you have time to play more Florida golf! |
