| How many commercials of the Nick Hotel did we have to see before I agreed to take the kids?
I lost count. But, we finally made it to Orlando to check out the Nickelodeon Family Suites by Holiday Inn.
We were at Orlando’s famous Nick Hotel to shoot a video for VISITFLORIDA.com. The crew documented our moves, from the kids going down the water slides to the boys and I having our own private SLIME TIME.
I braved the warm, green goopy stuff like a trooper. Jack and Brandon got to blast dad with a pie in the face. (He got them back pretty good too, I should add.)
Upon entering the lobby, the smell of sweet candy was so profound that I was convinced there was scented air being pumped through the vents. My suspicions were confirmed by the front desk attendant, who said the hotel does pump in sweet-smelling air freshener into the lobby!
Everything else at the property was just as “sweet” (except for when my boys got into a little spat, which fortunately wasn’t “caught on tape” by the cameras! I guess it wouldn't be a true family vacation without a little sibling rivalry).
Here’s a list of some wonderful amenities that would make any kid’s dreams come true:
- Two interactive pool complexes, with multiple slides, climbing nets, water jets, and a 400-gallon dump tank
- Netted basketball court, with multiple-height hoops for kids of all ages
- Mini golf course, challenging you with nine holes and lots of sand traps and obstacles
- Shaded kids play area, offering wet ‘n dry attractions like slides and squirt games
- Studio Nick, a million-dollar, state-of-the-art theater, with live nightly entertainment
- The Mall, complete with shops and a Food Court
- Nicktoons Café, the property’s full-service restaurant, with special Character Breakfasts and daily buffets
- Kids’ Spa, pampering your kids with manicures, hair wraps, and temporary tattoos
- Nick@Nite Lounge, where adults can relax with a cocktail, frozen drink, or afternoon coffee (It's not ALL about the kids!)
- The Arcade, a 3,000-square-foot game room, with PS2 Video Game
rentals for in-suite use
The Nick Hotel’s two-bedroom suites come with a kitchen area, flat-screen televisions and separate rooms for kids. Ours was poolside and had bunk beds and a Play Station.
The property pulls out every stop to entertain families. I don’t want to give too much away before the video airs.
Basically, these pictures are worth a thousand words anyway. And, if you think these pictures look like we had fun, come back soon and watch the video!
