Trick or Treat on Second Street in Fort Lauderdale
October 27, 2009
Get your kids in their costumes and celebrate Halloween at ‘Trick or Treat on Second Street’ Oct. 31, 2009 from 1-5 p.m.

Your kids can have quite the Halloween adventure, and it all starts by getting a Trick or Treat on Second Street Passport. Then be sure they have them stamped at each place. You can get a passport at any of the following locations:
  • Broward Center for the Performing Arts
  • Esplanade Park
  • Fort Lauderdale History Center
  • Museum of Discovery and Science Grand Atrium
Once you get your spooky stamp from each site, drop your passport into a winners box (there's one at each location) and you’ll be entered to win the Trick or Treat on Second Street Grand Prize that includes four tickets to the museum exhibits and four tickets to see Disney’s A Christmas Carol: An IMAX 3D Experience® at the Museum of Discovery and Science & AutoNation® IMAX® Theater; a pair of tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts; and a whole lot more!

Here’s what you’ll encounter at each different location:

Esplanade Park
Do the Monster Mash to Halloween-themed music, play old-fashioned carnival games to win candy, decorate a pumpkin, defy gravity in the bounce house and more!
Encounter creepy crawly critters, slithery snakes and play games to win treats. If you want to explore the museum, you’ll need to pay admission but there’s some really fun exhibits – you can learn about animal insides in the Guts Lab, design ghostly art at the Activities Zone, see the Creepy Crawly Animal Show and witness a Pumpkin Drop.

Broward Center for the Performing Arts
Walk through a not-so-scary “cemetery” and enjoy a treat from The Phantom of the Opera, see the Giant Puppet Parade, sit down and listen as Princess Reads-A-Lot shares a Halloween tale and more.

For $15, Trick-or-Treaters can attend the kid-friendly presentation of Room on the Broom in the theater, have their faces painted, make a Halloween themed Arts and Crafts project, and enjoy a post show snack. Show times are 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Fort Lauderdale History Center
Encounter ghosts and get goodies from the pioneers at the 1905 New River Inn, Fort Lauderdale’s first hotel. Knock on the door and see who answers – will you get tricks or treats? You’ll have to find out!

Happy Halloween!
