I know I get excited to tell you about certain events, but this one is very close to my heart. After being absent for 18 years, the ultra amazing USAF Thunderbirds are returning to Homestead Air Force Base to perform in a much anticipated air show, 'Wings Over Homestead' on Nov. 7-8, 2009.
This FREE two-day event takes place at the Homestead Air Reserve Base in Homestead, just north of Key Largo and south of Miami (right in my backyard)! Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Get there early and bring sunscreen as there isn't much shade. Wagons, strollers and folding chairs are welcome. And their website advises to bring a camera and a Sharpie® pen for autographs because many pilots make themselves available and would love to sign an autograph for you and your family.
Here is what else they have planned: a flyby by a B-2 Spirit Bomber, performances by the F-15 Eagle demonstration team, U.S. Navy F/A-18 Hornet demonstration team, U.S. Army Screaming Eagles Jump Team, U.S. Air Force Jet Car, and Sky Soldiers: A Tribute to Patriots. And there will be plenty of vendors serving up all kinds of food and drinks, so come hungry.
For more information or directions to the base, log on to their website. I certainly hope you'll come out and support your military. I know I'll be there with camera and Sharpie in hand!
See you at Wings Over Homestead!
