One of my must-eat-at places on the Key West list is B.O.'s Fish Wagon - a local fish shack that offered up great seafood at reasonable prices.
We stayed in the heart of Key West, so it was an easy walk to 801 Caroline Street - a nice walk, and welcome after the hours-long trip we'd had getting to town.
B.O. apparently stands for owner Buddy Owen, and I heard the place referred to as Bo's and B.O.'s, but either way, you'll get there. This is the most unpretentious place you can imagine. Walk up to the counter, place your order, get your drink and wait ... I enjoyed a great grouper sandwich. The night we were there, it was nearly empty, but as people came in and as I eavesdropped, I could tell most of them were regulars, all back hankering for their fresh fish fix at B.O.'s.
Other treats to order - any of the fish dinners, the conch sandwich or the conch fritters.
Sit back and relax in true Key West fashion. B.O.'s is the place. |
