You simply must visit Bahia Honda State Park. Along with the Dry Tortugas beaches and Sombrero Beach, it offers some of the best beaches in the Keys.
The longest beach in the park is called Sandspur beach on the Atlantic Ocean side. You'll easily be able to find a quiet spot on this sandy beach. It does have quite a bit of seaweed on the beach, particularly during periods of strong onshore winds.
There is another beach on the Atlantic side of the park called Loggerhead beach, which is close to the scenic remnants of Henry Flagler's old railroad bridge and provides a nice view of a rocky offshore island that is within reach of a kayak. Kayaks are rented in the park.
The third beach, Calusa Beach, is sheltered on the Gulf of Mexico side of the park. It tends to have less seaweed on the beach and is conveniently close to the park concession and marina. It also provides a wonderful view of the old railroad bridge.
