Tropical Night Coming to DeLand on July 17
June 24, 2009
DeLand knows how to throw a party, and one of its favorite events, Tropical Night, is coming up Friday, July 17.

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., merchants in downtown DeLand will be open and the streets will vibrate with tropical sounds -- steel drums and fun and, oh yes, a limbo contest.

Founded in 1876, this is a town that has kept its heritage alive and even paints its history on exterior walls. My suggestion: Come early in the day to see the 23 murals in downtown DeLand and consider spending the night. Then you can go to the DeLand Farmer's Market on Saturday morning. Sounds like a plan! Enjoy.
