Florida has great beaches. I'm ready to go to one right now! Let's plan ahead for the Fourth of July. Spend that Saturday at the beach and then watch fireworks over the water in the evening! Invite family and friends to join you on Independence Day and sare a little sunshine.
Here are some possibilities:
Hollywood's Fourth of July Celebration from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on their wonderful, wide, auto-free Broadwalk on the beach. Live patriotic and popular music, marching bands, children's entertainment. Uncle Sam will be there and, yes, an offshore fireworks display at 9 p.m. Admission is free.
Pensacola Sertoma's Fourth of July Celebration, a daylong event beginning at 11 a.m. in Old Seville with a free children's area, arts and entertainment. A concert at 6:30 p.m. is followed by a huge fireworks display over Pensacola Bay at 9 p.m. Admission is free.
Florida Keys' beautiful blue-green waters, on both the bayside and oceanside, will have a whole lot of color reflections from fireworks on the Fourth of July taking place all along the chain of islands. In Key
Largo, the best seating is around Mile Marker 104 Bayside. Consider making reservations at Sundowners or Senior Frijoles Restaurants, Caribbean Club or Marriott Key Largo Bay Resort. Fireworks start bayfront at 9 p.m.
Islamorada at Founders Park, Mile Marker 87 on Plantation Key, has activities all day long for the whole family plus fireworks at 9 p.m. oceanside.
Marathon kicks off the Fourth with a patriotic parade followed by a picnic and entertainment plus fireworks at night. Call the Marathon Chamber of Commerce for more information at 305-743-5417.
Key West has fireworks over the Atlantic (oceanside) starting at 9 p.m. Earlier, you can attend the July 4th picnic to benefit Hospice of the Florida Keys and the Visiting Nurse Association. For costs and more information, call 305-294-8812.
Enjoy. |
