This Saturday, June 13, folks in Lee County can enjoy Juneteenth holiday celebrations that will be hosted by the Fort Myers-based Lee County Black History Society and will pay homage to the ending of slavery in our nation.
Entitled, "Our Time, Our Community," the day-long festivities will begin at the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center with a speech by esteemed civil rights leader Reverend Isadore Edwards and access to an art exhibition called "The Untold Story -- From Segregation to Integration in Lee County." The afternoon will feature a family friends celebration in Roberto Clemente Park. Admission is $35 per person. It sounds like this will be a great way to enjoy a bit of culture, history and family!
