I've always been intrigued by French culture and frequently reminisce over my adventure-filled trips to Paris. While the classy European country is an ocean away, Ive just learned of a fun event in Miami where you can enjoy a day filled with the arts, just like the locals in France!
On Sunday, June 21 the Alliance Francaise will host "Fête de la Musique: Make Music Miami," a day-long celebration held at three different venues around town. First the fun starts at the Alliance Francaise headquarters with an open-mike stage, crepes and wine galore, and scheduled concerts by local bands Lanzallamas Monofonica and Grupo Embalo. You can even enter a contest to take a once-in-a-lifetime trip on the Goodyear Blimp. Tres cool!
After that, the party will head over to hipster hangouts Transit Lounge and Gordon Biersch for more concerts by artists including Vincent Raffard and blues musician Nico Wayne Toussaint, both straight from France.
If you have a band and are interested in performing at the open-mike stage, or just want to learn more about this exciting event, visit the official website here: www.makemusicmiami.gandi-sitemaker.net. |
