What would you say if I told you that going on right now in our state is an amazing two-week long festival dedicated to encouraging artists to recreate the lush natural beauty of our coasts? Interested?
From now until May 17, the Plein Air Paint Out 2009 will feature an exciting combination of outdoor exhibitions, viewings, sales and even a few live painting competitions all along the culturally rich Gulf Coast. Sponsored by the Forgotten Coast Cultural Coalition, this wide ranging event will take place in the following Florida towns: Mexico Beach, Windmark, Port St. Joe, Cape San Blas, Apalachicola, Eastpoint, St. George Island, Carrabelle and inland at Wewahitchka.
There is an exciting roster of events that include:
May 15 - Art as a Window, Florida Humanities Council scholars lead a discussion on how history and culture affect art. Historic Cotton Warehouse, Apalachicola
May 15 - Plein Air TGIF, relax with artists overlooking St. Joe Bay, Gulf County TDC Welcome Center, Port St. Joe
May 17 - Art in the Afternoon, final show and sale, family entertainment, children¹s art activities, Riverfront Park, Apalachicola
