Deadly snakes, colorful lizards, bizarre turtles, alligators and crocodiles are on display. Visitors may see the Alligator snapping turtle lure fish into his mouth with his worm-like tongue or a venomous cobra stand and spread its neck into a hood. They can observe the Gila monster, one of two venomous lizards in the world, the Diamond-back rattlesnake, one of the most dangerous North American snakes and the African Gaboon viper with fangs up to two-inches - the longest of any snake.

This summer Miami Seaquarium will be offering fun and cool alternatives to beat the heat with its Splashtacular Summer celebration. From June 7th to August 17th, 2008 the park will feature daily performances by the All American High Dive Team. The All American High Dive Show is an entertaining acrobatic and dive show that will leave guests laughing, filled with amazement and sometimes just a little wet. The show will feature professional divers from around the country who show off their Olympic diving ability along with hilarious comedic antics. Guests will be amazed to see the featured 75-foot high dive into a clear-sided pool with just eight feet of water. “The All American Dive Team will bring added fun and a big splash to Miami Seaquarium this summer,” commented Andrew Hertz, general manager at Miami Seaquarium. “This new show will entertain our guests with never-before-seen high dive stunts and comedy that will keep them laughing throughout the show.” The park will offer other ways to have fun while keeping cool with a ‘Kids Water Play Area. Children will be able to enjoy inflatable water slides and wet slip-n-slides as a part Splashtacular Summer at Miami Seaquarium. In addition, Salty’s Pirate Playground and the park’s ‘Spray and Play’ misting stations will provide fun and refreshing ways to stay cool. Miami Seaquarium offers one more way to stay cool this summer during shows at the park’s Killer Whale stadium. Just sit in one of the first rows of the stadium when Lolita the Killer Whale makes one of her incredible leaps out of the pool and sends hundreds of gallons of cool water cascading into the audience. It’s definitely the coolest fun in town.

Camp Seaquarium – Summer 2008 runs from June 9 through August 15 As summer approaches, parents are already making plans where to send the kids to camp. Miami Seaquarium is making that decision easy having the only camp in South Florida that offers high school children the opportunity to assist veterinarian staff in manatee rehabilitation. Only at Camp Seaquarium children will learn in a hands-on way how to help save these threatened Florida natives. But there is plenty of fun for children of all ages. Camp Seaquarium offers students from kindergarten to high school alternative camp themes with green initiatives and the opportunity to help save our planet by participating in beach clean-ups. And that’s not all. Students from kindergarten to high school will Go Green and become ‘Eco- Explorers’. From kinder to forth grade campers will have the opportunity to learn about ‘Animal Voyages’, fifth graders will learn about ‘Marine Ecosystems’, sixth grade will learn about dolphins in ‘Dolphin Study’ and high school students will focus on ‘Sea Turtle Studies’. With these themes, campers will enjoy fun-filled days of education and conservation, animal interactions, shows, activities and much more. Camp Seaquarium – Summer 2008 runs from June 9th through August 15th to camper’s ages 5-18. Curriculum for each grade level at Camp Seaquarium will revolve on a one-week schedule with additional weeks optional. Camp hours are Monday through Friday from 9a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with optional early and late care for an additional charge. Parents who have more than one child participating in Camp Seaquarium and/or who are annual pass holder will receive a discounted rate. Middle and high school students may include a “Dolphin Odyssey” experience for an additional $150. For Summer Camp enrollment or additional information, please call 305-361-5705, ext. 207 or 298. Summer Camp information & registration forms are available on our website at www.miamiseaquarium.com.
