A Mother and Daughter's Recovery from Breast Cancer British actress Lynn Redgrave was diagnosed with breast cancer. After sharing the news with her family she made the decision to undergo surgery, followed by a months-long regimen of chemotherapy and radiation. Together with her daughter, photographer Annabel Clark, she determined to record the experience, creating a compelling document of treatment and recovery with an unprecedented level of intimacy. With heart-rending honesty, in bittersweet moments as beautiful as they are difficult, the photographs and journal take viewers through a personal journey through the leading cancer diagnosed in women today. Annabel Clark's photography has been featured in The New York Times Magazine the Guardian, People and Harper’s Bazaar. Her photographs have been widely exhibited in the US, UK and Europe. Dr. Barron Lerner is Professor of Medicine and Public Health at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and is author of The Breast Cancer Wars. Lynn Redgrave made her stage debut in 1962, and her film debut one year later. In 1966 she received her first Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe and New York Film Critics Award for her role in Georgy Girl. She has appeared in over 60 films, winning a second Golden Globe, an Oscar nomination, two Tony nominations, an Outer Critics Circle Award and an Obie. Lauaara Stewart, a film and art historian, author and Daytona State College instructor (and former Fine Arts Writer for the Daytona Beach News Journal), will present background and introduce each film then lead an audience discussion/question-and-answer period after each 2 PM screening. Becky and Gary Krimstein (USA, 2004) This empowering documentary shows how women make it to the other side of breast cancer. The film focuses on the emotional side of the disease and offers hope, inspiration, and optimism to those who see it. The film was produced by husband and wife television veterans, Becky and Gary Krimstein after Becky was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 35. Once she had recovered from her breast cancer treatment, she and her husband felt compelled to use their television experience to make a film to help other women facing the disease. The film is told from Becky’s point of view, as she takes viewers with her on the journey that changed her life for the better. In the film, she introduces you to the doctors and new friends she met as she journeyed through breast cancer. The film takes some dramatic twists as four more women within the small circle of the film were diagnosed with breast cancer, as the film was being made. Create a picture gallery to commemorate your childhood, a favorite event, or show off your friends and family. Each quilt has a decorative border added for easy hanging, and photos will be sized and trimmed to fit within the squares. Each child will choose from a variety of pre-sewn patterns, transfer their pictures, then embellish with buttons and embroidery thread. Your quilt will be made using your pictures.
