Grayton Beach
Nestled on the Northwest Coast of Florida between Destin and Panama City, Grayton Beach is a laid-back community whose unofficial motto is “nice dogs, strange people.” This eclectic village, one of South Walton’s original neighborhoods, is home to pristine, white-sand beaches, seaside restaurants, and a thriving local art scene.
At award-winning Grayton Beach State Park, visitors can camp, fish, swim, hike and bike, rent kayaks, paddle a 100-acre coastal dune lake, and try to spot some of the park’s wild inhabitants, including deer, foxes, sea turtles, and plentiful bird species. Anglers can fish from the shore or book a fishing charter to reach deeper waters.
For scuba divers, Grayton Beach offers truly unique experiences, including the opportunity to visit the Underwater Museum of Art, which sits at a depth of 58 feet less than a mile from the shore of Grayton Beach State Park. Snorkelers can explore the clear waters of Sea Turtle Reef, located less than 800 feet from the beach at Grayton Beach State Park.
Grayton Beach’s art and food scenes converge at Shops of Grayton, where colorful cottages house local favorite eateries and galleries, including Nanbu Noodle Bar, Saczynski Gallery, The Studio Gallery, The Shard Shop, La Duna Gallery, and Black Bear Bread Co. Other must-try restaurants in the area include Crackings for breakfast and brunch, The Red Bar, Chiringo, Grayton Seafood Company, and Hurricane Oyster Bar.
