High Springs, once an important railroad junction in North Central Florida, was originally called Santaffey. In 1888, the town’s name was changed to High Springs. Today, High Springs beckons swimmers and snorkelers to explore places like Ginnie Springs, a turquoise oasis that contrasts with the nearby tannin-stained Santa Fe River.
