It's a Wild, Wild Life in Naples
There's a good reason it's called the Paradise Coast. More than 80 percent of Collier County in southwest Florida, which encompasses Naples, Marco Island and the western side of the Everglades, is designated as parkland and nature preserves.

The Everglades Trail
You could start with a walking trail and look for panther tracks at Number 20 (the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge in Naples), or head straight for some snorkeling at Number 12 (Biscayne National Park in Homestead).

Need More Beach
It really struck home a few weeks ago that I need more beach in my life (really everybody does). And one of my favorite places to 'get more beach' is Southwest Florida's Paradise Coast – Naples, Marco Island and the Everglades, where the beach is always close by.

View from the Top
Florida’s observation towers offer a different take on the Florida landscape. Whether you’re birding, stargazing or looking for a view that goes on for miles, you’ll reach new heights peering over forests, skylines and the sea.

Romantic Naples
There’s a reason it’s called the Paradise Coast, and the setting is perfect for love – think sunset champagne toasts, a massage for two and secluded island beaches.

Gliding Through the 'Glades
Instead of just reading about the Everglades, hop aboard an airboat and venture deep into the heart of this water-covered wilderness.

Big Cypress Adventure
The Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum, which in the language of the Seminoles means "a place to learn," shows through exciting exhibits, rare artifacts and cultural displays how these early Floridians once live and flourished in the Everglades.

Experience the Everglades at the Big Cypress Gallery
I felt as if I had been somehow transported deep into the Everglades, where no cars can possibly venture, and to a place that few people could find, and if they did find it, they surely couldn't find their way back again.

Finding the Real Florida
Long before Pilgrims got their feet wet arriving at Plymouth Rock, Florida had a Spanish city named St. Augustine, complete with settlers, soldiers and plenty of parties on payday.

Little Deer, Big Gators
Enjoying the delicate beauty of Key Deer on the one hand and then witnessing the menacing countenance of alligators really heightened our sense of nature’s variety.

A Zoo Without Bars
Quickly, I grabbed Mo by the arm and spun him around. His face immediately lit up. “I don’t believe it – it’s a panther,” he whispered.

Walk on the Wild Side
The grand sight of a whale splashing in the water is not usually associated with Florida. But northern right whales choose our northeastern coastal waters, almost exclusively, to give birth in winter months. They are among the most endangered species of large mammals in the world.

Florida's Seven Great Natural Wonders
Even without binoculars I sighted crested caracara, deer, gopher tortoises, ospreys, rabbits, red-shouldered hawks and wading birds. A great blue heron lazily lofted itself above spatterdock lilies.
